ARD2001 – An Introduction to Coding Languages

Welcome to the exciting world of coding! In this course, we will explore the different types of coding languages, their applications, and how they are used in the development of websites and web applications.

Coding languages can be broadly classified into four main categories:

1. Markup Languages: Markup languages are used to structure and format content on a webpage. Examples of markup languages include HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and XML (Extensible Markup Language). These languages define the structure and layout of a webpage, including headings, paragraphs, images, and links.
2. Programming Languages: Programming languages are used to write instructions that tell a computer what to do. Examples of programming languages include Python, Java, and C++. These languages are used to create software applications, games, and other complex programs.
3. Query Languages: Query languages are used to interact with databases and retrieve data. Examples of query languages include SQL (Structured Query Language) and MySQL. These languages allow developers to write queries to retrieve specific data from a database.
4. Modelling Languages: Modelling languages are used to define and represent complex systems. Examples of modelling languages include UML (Unified Modelling Language) and SysML (Systems Modelling Language). These languages are used to create diagrams and models of complex systems, such as software applications or computer networks.

In this course, we will also cover front-end and back-end languages. Front-end languages are used to create the user interface and user experience of a website or web application. Examples of front-end languages include HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Back-end languages are used to create the server-side logic and functionality of a website or web application. Examples of back-end languages include Python, Java, and PHP.

By the end of this course, you will have a solid understanding of the different types of coding languages and their applications. You will be able to write simple code in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and understand the basics of back-end development using Python.
