01.1. Definition of VR headset

Virtual reality (VR) headsets are devices worn on the head that simulate a 3D environment and provide a fully immersive experience to the user. They typically consist of a head-mounted display (HMD), which projects a digital image into the user’s eyes, and other sensors that track the user’s head movements and provide feedback to the system. The HMD may also include speakers for audio and other sensors, such as touchpads or controllers, for input.

There are several types of VR headsets available on the market, each with its own unique features and capabilities. Some of the most popular VR headsets include the Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, HTC Vive, and Pico VR.

The Meta Quest 2 is a consumer-grade VR headset developed by Facebook’s Reality Labs division. It features a 1,832 x 1,920 OLED display and two 3.6-inch screens for each eye, providing a resolution of 1,824 x 1,920 per eye. It also includes six outside-in tracking sensors and two inside-out tracking cameras for tracking the user’s movements.

The Meta Quest Pro is a more advanced version of the Meta Quest 2, designed for professionals and creators. It features a higher resolution display (2,160 x 2,160 per eye) and improved inside-out tracking, making it suitable for use in a variety of settings.

The HTC Vive is a high-end VR headset developed by HTC and Valve. It features two 1,080 x 1,200 OLED displays for each eye and two outside-in tracking sensors. It also includes hand controllers for input and a base station for tracking the user’s movements.

The Pico VR is a budget-friendly VR headset developed by Pico Interactive. It features a 960 x 1,080 AMOLED display for each eye and two outside-in tracking sensors. It also includes a wireless wand for input and a mobile phone holder for use with smartphones.
